CUT THE ROPE

"Our lives are defined by opportunities even the ones we miss"

For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit and you can stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.

I've always been drawn to change and experiencing new things. Thinking back to the day that I picked up my RV pictured above. We can always tell the story in hindsight but never predict the future. That day was just another point in my life that was both terrifying and exciting.

I didn't realize how big this thing was until I went to an RV show with my friend Jin. It was two weeks before I was supposed to make the journey to Ohio to pick up my RV. As we walked through the show I saw a similar RV which was half the size of the one that I had purchased. From that point on I was worried about pulling this thing all across the US.

I was all a blur, the drive to Ohio, the walk-through with the sales guy which I barely heard a word. Then a short drive around the parking lot with the RV in tow. I felt like a little bird about to be pushed out of the nest. Instead of leaves I made sure my insurance was paid in full. It was time for me to take this RV out on the road for the first time... This RV and truck are the size of an eighteen wheeler.

"I had no idea that they were treated that way”, a lady in her mid to late fifties stated aloud to her friends after she read the display. The walls were filled with illustrations, short videos, etc. of how American Indians were stripped of everything they knew and forced to live in institutions.

I should not be amazed at the comment or even the fact that she felt comfortable enough to say it aloud. The words flowed freely from her well-meaning sentiment in childlike naivety.

“There are people that really do live under a rock. Just another living example of how education has failed", I stated loud enough for all to hear. No one said another word. The room seemed much smaller at that point.

Apathy lives not in the light or in the shadows. It dwells in a dimension that I, nevertheless, will never fully comprehend.
